Very powerful sentiments

Be an unstoppable force. Write with an imaginary machete strapped to your thigh. This is not wishy-washy, polite, drinking-tea-with-your-pinkie-sticking-out stuff. It’s who you want to be, your most powerful self. Write your books. Finish them, then make them better. Find the way. No one will make this dream come true for you but you.

CHAPTER ONE

Glittering Sales Publishing is the name on the window of a corner building at a strip mall in Miami, Florida. Behind its glass door is a small, square space where Irma Gutierrez, clutching a red folder on her lap, sits in front of a dark brown, bureau-style desk, and across from the head publisher, sixty-year-old, Beatrice Campbell, who is staring at her tan blouse. Beatrice buttons its top button. Her shoulder-length, blond wig slides, inching over her forehead. “Eighty-nine-dollars and it won’t stay put.”

Irma drops her stare to a cellphone…

A Word

If one adds a word to a blank sheet of paper but it’s left on its own it means nothing. If it’s joined by another word it could start to gather momentum. Now if several words are placed together creating meaning and then sprinkled with soul one could have developed purpose. Look into that purpose and you may find the writer.

Bonding through Kent and the WhitLit Festival

A very interesting account of Ian Fleming and his affection for my father’s home county of Kent.

009's avatarArtistic Licence Renewed

PrintThe 3rd annual Whitstable Literary Festival in Kent this year, took on a spy theme and in particular Ian Fleming and his many Kent connections.

Fans of the genre were delighted to witness some of the best names in the literary espionage trade, including many who we have interviewed in the past such as Matthew Parker, Michael Smith, Steve Cole and Andrew Lycett. The organisers of the festival can also take great pride in welcoming Ian Fleming’s step-daughter and daughter of Ann Fleming – Fionn Morgan.

So in the spirit of Ian, I took off for Kent with the golf clubs in the boot and copies of Moonraker and Goldfinger for inspiration.

Friday Night is Bond Night

Kicking off proceedings was young Bond author Steve Cole, whose infectious energy had the packed out hall of children and adults enjoying every minute. He was there to promote his latest young Bond…

Review

A wonderful four-star review for Once I Was A Soldier on Goodreads https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/36311628-once-i-was-a-soldier

Dianne‘s review

Nov 25, 2017
I really liked it
She broke her widowed father’s heart with her cold and callous demeanor, her passions that were different than his, her lack of interest in the family empire and her lust for money. When he died, Melissa Iverson was determined to squeeze every drop out of her inheritance, no matter who got hurt in the process. Melissa was not prepared for the web of lies and deceit she became enmeshed in when she met Terry, the undercover British intelligence agent, or the fact that she would not be his only conquest.

The wife of an American presidential nominee is determined to gain more power than she has in the world’s arena. Her involvement with the intelligence agent would bring political intrigue, while Karma seemed to be paying young Melissa back in spades as they share the charming agent’s affections and prowess. Someone wants Melissa dead, and no continent seems safe. Politics, power and sexual gratification will drive this mystery to a conclusion that can shape global alliances while bringing one young woman to her knees in a fight for survival against vengeance.

Daniel Kemp’s ONCE I WAS A SOLDIERis filled with deceit, personal and political machinations, and one woman’s stark look in the mirror that is her life. Dark, detailed and filled with emotional landmines, this tale of intrigue is perfect for those who do not need any fluff or even to like the characters they will be spending several hours with. While not a fast-paced read, there is a depth to this story that runs deep with a plethora of details to absorb.

Review

What Happened In Vienna, Jack? is compared to Ian Fleming’s James Bond novels.
It’s FREE until 2nd December

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great thriller to grab
By P.S. Winn on November 30, 2017
Format: Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Welcome to the world of secrets, lies and espionage. Jack Price is a former British spy who knows perhaps too many secrets of past conspiracies and cover-ups. Patrick West is a man who has a sordid past himself, but it is going to be up to him to see if he can find a way to delve into the past and find out what secrets Jack Price may know. This is a well-written novel that I would classify as something close to a James Bond thriller. Daniel Kemp seems to be quite knowledgeable about not only spying but historic secrets and how to bring them together in an intriguing novel.
High praise

Writing – an Incredible Journey

You’re Not A Wuss✊🏽 / Motivational Speaker: Ray Smitty💫

Wise words here……read on

Shanti 🌸's avatarSheIsPurposed

💫 Can I be real with you? When I was younger, maybe around elementary and middle school, I always saw the world as this strict playground where you had to abide by certain rules. Each person on the playground had a job, and if you didn’t do your job then you’d be punished either by the legal system or by society. One of the main roles of every man was to be strong, provide for the family, and protect.

💫As I got older I realized that nowhere on their agenda was the phrase “Love yourself”. We never took the time out to sit down and appreciate ourselves, and there weren’t many older men who took out the time to guide us; I guess it was sort of a “figure it out on your own” type of thing. Because the old heads always had this “work hard and be manly and…
