Doctor’s opinion

Five Stars

Doctor Parrot's avatarSKYLINE REPORTS

A doctor has a very nasty quarrel with his wife at breakfast.

“And if you want to know, you’re not really good in bed”, she tells him and leaves for work.

At noon she starts to feel sorry and calls his husband at home:

“Why did you take so long to answer ?”

“I was in bed.”

“And what were you doing in bed at noon ?”

“I was asking for a second opinion.”

GONE FOR A WHILE

My Thoughts Go Out To Patricia

knee

I will be offline for a while. I am busy doing all the preop instructions, seeing primary doctor and surgeon, going to the hospital for a class and speak to the head nurse, filling out tons of paperwork, etc. I have to have my knee replaced, I was told it’s not that big of a deal. The photo above doesn’t look like no big deal to me. Had to stop taking certain meds starting today, and no vitamins, or anti-inflammatory, have to shower with a powerful antibiotic soap every day including the day of surgery. The photo above is what I can expect, ugh! I am stressed but I know I will make it through. I don’t know when I will be back online on a regular basis. However, it will give me time to read, I hope. If so I will be writing reviews whenever possible. Please don’t think I…

THROWBACK THURSDAY FIRST TRUE LOVE

This is just beautiful.

http://www.salpa58.wordpress.com's avatarThe Writers Desk

I hesitated to write about this. It was so many years ago but lasted a lifetime. I was sixteen when I met him, (I will refer to him as L.J.) he was 13 years older than me. I was an operator and he called for information and did not know the correct name, I told him that I would call him back with the information if he would like. L.J. was friendly and funny. I liked his voice, it sounded sincere and he had a beautiful laugh. He gave me his number and made me promise to call him. I did.

I called him back with the information on my lunch hour. He thanked me and then started chatting with me. He was funny and sweet all at the same time. I also promised to call him back the next day. L.J. was older than me by 13 years. He…

The Burying Point (Salem, MA)

This is a topic you don’t come across every day. Enlightening!

New England Nomad's avatarNew England Nomad

Nestled behind the Salem Witch Trials Memorial, is the final resting place for some of the key players of a dark chapter in Salem, and America’s, history.  The oldest cemetery in Salem, MA, The Burying Point Cemetery is the home to at least one accused witch, Mary Corey, and a key sinister player in the Salem Witch Trials.

While some may find it disrespectful, it is so common place most people don’t bat an eyelash.  Most people, except the seemingly still drunk (or under some other chemically induced stupor) college students who feared they were being stalked by a squirrel (that is sadly true), are respectful.  Some people leave coins, flowers or other offerings at the graves.

The cemetery is well kept and the vast majority of the visitors are respectful of the tenants…

A Painting that tells a different story to everyone who views it…ART FOR WRITERS

What a fantastic painting!

bridget whelan's avatarBRIDGET WHELAN writer

Yeats, Jack Butler, 1871-1957; 'That we may never meet again'

Last week’s offering (A Victorian genre painting) was almost hyper realistic. In contrast, Jack Yeats makes the viewer do a lot of work. This is an ambiguous painting and the title raises more questions: That We May Never Meet Again
Is it a defiant declaration or an unspoken sadness? A wish, a promise, a foreshadowing of an aching loss?
The painting hangs in York Art Gallery and Adam Alcock commenting on it in 2012 suggests that the second figure “could be the other’s reflection, he is painted in lighter, rippling colours. He is frailer, somehow older than the younger man in the foreground.”
To me the guy in the hat is the older of the two and there’s nothing frail about the other one. He seems more confident, his focus is elsewhere, concentrating on what he is about to do, his future.
How do you see these two figures? What’s holding…

myBook.to/Once

Afghanistan in the mid-1990s, emerging from Soviet occupation, has become the focal point for American political intervention and one in which the British government has a keen interest. The seemingly impossible task of influencing the American selection of who forms a controlling alliance in that country falls on Fraser Ughert, the omnipotent chairman of the United Kingdom Joint Intelligence Committee.

Once I Was A Soldier is a story of murder, exploitation and ecstatic sex involving two wealthy women. One, the Machiavellian wife of the American Democratic Party’s presidential nominee, who seeks more power than she already has; the other, a young, attractive, but naive English book publisher, who wishes she had never inherited her family’s fortune. Both become entangled with a 44-year-old womanising British intelligence agent who is still looking to find his real self between glasses of whisky and the beds he shares.
