The Man Nobody Could Mend
From the days that lasted forever
To the nights he begged would end.
From the boy who never worried,
To the man that nobody could mend.
After the memories all collided
They gathered in the corners of the mind.
No sense they made in the darkness
Leaving the soldier unassigned.
It left only one avenue open
It’s a matter of honour you understand.
That those trained to take a life
Treat it like waves washing over the sand.
Only God can count the grains of sand.
And it’s He who can count the dead.
But His eyes are shut and His ears are closed,
To the gun that’s echoing inside my head.
One bullet in the chamber
Five clicks of the trigger were heard.
Death waiting inside a barrel
The gun jammed; life is so absurd!
