The Widow’s Son

I’m proud to announce the publication of my 7th novel

Synopsis of The Widow’s Son

Three months before the invasion of Iraq, a member of a Masonic fraternity known as the Rosicrucians is helped to escape from a British Intelligence holding station by the head of a counter-intelligence department inside the Russian Federal Security Service. But why was that, and what is it to do with a remodelled, highly classified CIA file, code name Gladio B that makes George Orwell’s novel 1984 read as though it’s a supplement to Winnie-the-Pooh?
The eight families who control the machinery of worldwide governments have shaped that file for their own ends, and in order to accomplish their ultimate aims they propose to start the war on humanity by using American field howitzers firing stolen Russian weaponised anthrax and phosphorous artillery shells on an unlikely target.
The first task facing the new chairman of the British Joint Intelligence Committee is to destroy the unholy alliance between corrupt business and corrupt politics, and although he is aware of the location of these weapons of mass annihilation, time is running short before the whole situation is overtaken by the escaped Rosicrucian receiving the Masonic mystical ‘thirty-three degree level of understanding’.

Singularity

Don’t label me by name,
Nor label me by colour.
I am me,
I am no other.

Don’t foster on me your bigotry,
Nor peddle me your deception.
I’ll live my life as it pleases me;
Through my own perception.

My life has been surrounded
by sycophants like you,
With words full of nothingness
Thinking they will do.

Never can you fill my mind
With hatred and detestation.
I will live it in my way,
With steadfast determination.

Take your petty criticism and
Take away your disdain.
Live your life removed from me
As I quickly forget your name.

A Tale Of Two Hearts

I smiled but she never smiled with me.
I laughed but only saw her tear.
I spoke but she never heard what I was saying.
I felt pain from the crushing sense of fear.

She asked if I was leaving?
I replied—what else could I do?
She said she never meant to do it.
I replied—Is there anything you’ve said that was true?

We made peace and joined together.
We were one for a year or more.
But the barrier grew stronger and wider.
Until at last neither of us was sure.

Death saw a permanent separation.
Leaving my conscience to wonder why.
Did life ever hold an answer,
Or was love always destined to die?

Along The Way

I read a poem about a path tonight and it reminded me of one of the first things I ever wrote—-I hope you like it.

Along The Way

“I am heavy, I am tired,” said the old man to the child.
“My life is drawing to an end.
It is not what I have done to life that has brought me here today, but what life has done to me along the way.

I was strong, I was fierce, I took no-one to my side, simply brushing them aside with no need for them.
Now I find that I’m alone, but don’t pity nor disown those memories that I’ve sown, along the way.

My path was never straight, sometimes narrow, sometimes wide but along it I did stride to find you here.
Now stand you tall, never cry, have no tear in an eye as you hear what I have done along my way.

I have reached that final bend, the one that leads me to my end, and now I leave you here to make your own way through this life.
Tread your path with care, and always be aware that there is no such thing in life, as a mistake.”

Selfish Pursuits

There was a dying man on the ground with his eyes to the sky.
His wife knelt beside him with tears of sorrow ready to cry.
Time had travelled past them eroding away their roots,
As mankind was absorbed in purely selfish pursuits.

An old woman now stands alone unable to carry on.
A radio blasts from a car with a deafening song.
Never ending traffic take the breath from her lungs,
As children run past with foul swearing tongues.

Another age has just died and past backward into time.
A newer one pushes forward eager to be the first in line.
Old values are abandoned along with old-fashioned truths,
As mankind is absorbed in purely selfish pursuits.

The Flowers of Poppies Worn in Splendour

My humble contribution to Remembrance Day

Some gave their life for a kingdom.
Some died without a voice.
Somewhere was a voice in the wilderness,
But it was not a wilderness of choice.

There is no freedom on a battlefield,
And battles are not fought with dreams.
Minefields are full of nightmares.
Nightmares are full of screams.

Weapons are for a purpose,
That purpose can be a crime.
Some crime goes without punishment,
But the punishment was not mine.

Suffering can become a kingdom,
A kingdom lived in the dark.
The dark is full of shadows,
Where blood leaves its mark.

The flowers of poppies worn in splendour
Paying tribute to the dead.
Peace is what they all died for
But that word still needs to be spread.
