Memory loss

Don’t let them take the temperature on your forehead as you enter the supermarket, because it erases your memory. I went for a bottle of milk and bread and came home with a case of lager and a bottle of wine.

Best seats in the house

An usher at a movie theatre notices a customer laying across three seats near the back of the theatre.

He tells the customer that he can only take up one seat. The customer justs moans and rolls his eyes.

The usher goes to get his supervisor who also tells the customer he must only take one seat or he will call the police. Once again the customer justs moans and…

Freedom

Freedom

download

Nothing in life was, or will ever be, free.
Your freedom was lost for eternity.
Everyone pleads— “It was too late. It’s too little. We want more.
Our constitution allows us to start a war.”

Was it you who first held out your hand?
For the freedom that from your palm fell like sand.
Are you now waiting in line for the next free bus
With no feeling of being anxious?

The virus hits the poor more than the rich.
They can make money from your shite in the ditch.
I hear a ‘DEAL’ has been made for a vaccine.
So we’ll be saved if the price is right and we’re not mean.

There is no magic cure nor a paradise.
For your freedom comes with an ever-increasing price.
That price can never be paid,
No matter what freedom you demand on your crusade.

Ellison Cooper: Cut to the Bone

What sounds like a very interesting story.

Auntie M Writes Crime's avatarAuntiemwrites Crime-Mystery Author M K Graff

Ellison Cooper’s Sayer Altair series calls on her own experience with neuroscience, as a murder investigator, and as a certified K9 Searach and Rescue Federal Disaster worker to inform the series with a high degree of authenticity.

She returns with the third in the series, Cut to the Bone, an original story with the kind of didn’t-see-it-coming twists that will startle readers.

Sayer is still grieving for her dead fiance’and building her reputation with her work into the minds of serial killers for the FBI, as she builds her little untraditional family in Washington DC and its environs.

When she’s called to the scene of young girl’s body, left inside a circle of baboons by the Einstein Memorial outside the National Academy of Sciences.

It isn’t long before Sayer and her team, with several returning and interesting characters, learn that just hours before, the victim was one student on…

This was never going to end well!

A Welshman, an Englishman, and an Irishman were being chased by Farmer Giles with a shotgun. After 10 minutes of running, they spotted a barn and ran inside.

Once inside they each hid in an old sack against the barn wall. The farmer went into the barn but did not see where they went, he was about to turn back when he saw three suspicious-looking sacks. He walked forward and prodded the first sack with his gun. The Englishman inside said… ”Meow’.’

“Just cats,” he thought.

He then prodded the second sack. The Welshman, hearing how the Englishman got off said… ”Woof’.’

“Just dogs,” he thought.

As he walked towards the…

The Man Nobody Could Mend

The Man Nobody Could Mend

From the days that lasted forever
To the nights he begged would end.
From the boy who never worried,
To the man that nobody could mend.

After the memories all collided
They gathered in the corners of the mind.
No sense they made in the darkness
Leaving the soldier unassigned.

It left only one avenue open
It’s a matter of honour you understand.
That those trained to take a life
Treat it like waves washing over the sand.

Only God can count the grains of sand.
And it’s He who can count the dead.
But His eyes are shut and His ears are closed,
To the gun that’s echoing inside my head.

One bullet in the chamber

Five clicks of the trigger were heard.

Death waiting inside a barrel

The gun jammed; life is so absurd!

Free until July 4th

For a lie to add piquancy to a story, the story would be factual. Fantasy needs no lie to stimulate or excite. But if the factual story is contrived or fallacious then it’s the fantasy that is the truth.

THE STORY THAT HAD NO BEGINNING

It will leave you guessing until the very end!

Special Guest, Sally Cronin: Travels as a Child

A great story of a family in transit. Not so sure if running under a plane is advisable though.

Darlene's avatarDarlene Foster's Blog

I am delighted to have the amazing Sally Cronin as my guest today as she tells us about her adventurous life as a child traveller.

Travels as a ChildCape Town, South Africa – 1963-1965 – Sally Cronin

My father was a Royal Naval officer, and by the time I was ten years old, I had quite a few adventures under my belt. When I was 18 months old my father was posted to Sri Lanka (Ceylon at that time) for two years to a place where my early memories were formed. In early 1959, when I was six-years-old, we moved to Malta for two years, flying via Rome airport, where my two-year-old brother escaped and was recaptured running across the tarmac under a plane.

But the biggest adventure would be in early 1963 when we left for Cape Town, South Africa, so my father could take up his shore-based…
