The Gold Star, by Danny Kemp.

2c98ac1d3b86e498d6e6625fa6856d98

For The Young Ones, OR, The Young At Heart.

In the shadowy depths beneath the trees,

Lived a badger known as ‘Please.’

He was so polite that his elders did say,

“He deserves a Gold Star for being that way.”

The Star was hung around his neck,

And there it bounced as a huge glowing speck.

But even though it didn’t prick his skin,

He tied it tighter under his chin!

He held his head high to show-off his prize

So all could feast their greedy eyes.

He was proud, was Please, and told everyone so,

With such politeness that they did glow.

Friends were told and they gathered around,

Just to hear such an enjoyable sound.

He was good was Please, growing tall and strong,

Always with politeness leading him along.

For years that Star was worn with pride,

Shining from his black and white hide.

Let politeness be your own shining Star,

Then others will see how wonderful you are!

THE TWO, by Danny Kemp

990a5f3522719f3f8e164eeec5f94044

If love can be touched

Then touch the heart

Of one whose love

Will not depart.

Choose well that heart

And touch again

Until your love

Flows through each vein

Suffer not from doubts

Nor face no fears

But share that love

Through pain and tears.

Give your all

But ask the same

And then in love

You two will remain.

Devastation, by Danny Kemp

A scar that should never heal

Heartbreak that none should feel

Wars fought for someones gain

Oblivious to the worlds pain.

SIMPLISTIC I KNOW, but….By Danny Kemp.

d4cc99b24d4907370528d72601af059c

Have you ever been lonely within a crowd,

Yet sought more loneliness than is allowed?

“Mix,” you’re told. “It will do you good!”

But you’d leave the gathering, if only you could.

If your car was scratched would you throw it away?

That’s you. You’re scratched in much the same way.

What can you do? Where can you hide?

Or will you find some strength, and then some pride?

Only you can decide what’s best and right,

Fight this depression with all your MIGHT!

To try is hard, but a worthy thing,

To wait is worthless, a wasted thing.

Those who try stand to fall.

While those who wait gain nothing at all.

THE SCONES. A bit of fun by Danny Kemp.

d55353a167a3d8a891a4e896d4d68654

Oh my Aunt, my blessed, giddy Aunt,

I can’t come to tea, I really, really can’t.

I’m in hospital with a fractured jaw.

You can come and see, if you want to make sure!

I love your scones even though they are to blame.

My jaw will mend, but I’ll never be quite the same.

Words And Value, by Danny Kemp.

The value of a book should not simply be judged on the written words that you can see.

It should also be judged on the memories it leaves in your heart.

BLACKBIRD, by Danny Kemp.

47584bd2f6423c7721f96b88979eded9

Blackbird.

Two ways of life, encapsulated in a few lines.

The first two lines, a repressed life. The second two, the fantasy of freedom.

You have no master, no one to say; “you must do this, you must do that,

You must play this role today!”

Spread your wing and take to flight.

Go find your love hiding in the night.

Funny ‘Lines’ Mixed With Strange Enzymes, by Danny Kemp

383931c7be98b8affcb50136adfd3ea4

Me and Liam would go to the sea to throw pebbles and count the bounces you see.

Then we’d go home for a pot of jam, three slices bread and a little smoked ham.

Soon Liam got fat and could no longer travel, whilst I moved on to more problems to unravel.

Now I’m a chemist working with enzymes, while poor Liam sits at home writing silly rhymes.

Who’s the fool and who can claim credit, when both lives must face their final edit?

I offer an answer to which you may agree, so I’ll write it here for you all to see.

Lines can be bad but they can also be good, but best not to try too many before adulthood…Boom Boom.

Dress Code, by Danny Kemp.

ca59b23d1bd68f56f773c15ef748d596

Dress Code…..Taken from Anything But Hackneyed.

Men in grey, women in red. I wonder what lives they have led?

Grey is a colour between black and white.

It stands for nothing that stands for right!

It means indifference, incapable of choice.

Being silent, quiet of voice.

It’s a man’s colour, the colour they chose,

But there’s always something that they oppose.

Red is for danger, watch out I’m here!

Keep the way open. Keep it clear!

“I have an opinion and I’ll voice it if asked.

Don’t mess with me boy, or I’ll kick your arse!”

I am a woman, I speak soft and low.

I’m not violent, don’t make me so!

Women in red, men in grey.

I wonder what they’re thinking, as they go on their way?
