Every Single Day

Every Single Day

It felt right to be together
When two hearts became entwined,
There were moments that were priceless
There were two lovers who were blind.

There was a word spoken of expectation
The belief connected by two
Before the seed of excitement
Became an obsession not for one, but for you.

A secret that was hidden
Tucked far away in time
Of a word never spoken
About love being sublime.

A passion-fulfilled affection
That now could never be
A desire that was shared
With only room for you and me.

There was a heart that was broken
Crushed by a single word
A dream that was shattered,
Its terms never heard.

A life watched giving way,
Weighed down by tears.
The living that remained
Was full of terrifying fears.

A question was asked without an answer
Left floating on the breeze
A love now silent
Lay accused of inadequacies.

Where once was love
With compassion and care,
Now left only neglect,
Ignorance and despair.

But in the depths of a shadow
Continued a heart that was incomplete,
In its space, it speaks only in whispers,
But one can hear its steady beat.

One day life may speak again,
Perhaps before it truly dies,
But while your perfume fills the air each day
My heart can not remove this disguise.

I went to the doctors yesterday. I told him that I was hearing music all the time in my hat. He asked me to give him the hat. I did and he fiddled about with it, gave it back to me, and told me to put it on. I did and the music had gone! I said “that’s amazing! What did you do?” He said, “Easy! I removed the band!”

Let Me Be

The door must close on what has past
For I have no wish for life to last
No tears may glide, no need to cry
For no longer am I afraid to die

I have seen the face of death
For I have fought for want of breath
Life has now lost all its appeal
For I have nothing left to feel

Let it be soon for my time to rest
For I am failing this last test
No more shine your light on me
For I seek peace so let me be.

The Loneliness Of A Single Tear

The light disappeared into a distant sky
As a woman walked home with a tear in her eye.
A laugh shared at work but there’s no one at home
Few understand what it’s like to be really all alone.

Home is full of darken thoughts of weakness and despair
Your life is not your own after all’s been stripped bare.
Regrets and confusion over things that have passed.
What should have been forever has failed to last.

Depression is always close, it’s never far away
Ability to cope with life is dealt with day by day
Loneliness lives within a troubled mind
It has nowhere to run to, no safety to find.

Alone at night without a comforting hand.
Life can be suspended by the merest strand.
Finding comfort in a crowd is not a choice any more
There is no easy answer, in fact, there is no cure.

Take a drink, take a pill but the loneliness is still there.
Friends do not understand, because they are unaware
Of the overwhelming anxiety swelling thoughts of fear
That’s locked inside the loneliness of a single tear.

My Truth

To be humble, to be grateful, to be caring, to be kind,

Are four small words, but huge qualities to find.

Politicians give us promises. They tell us what they want us to hear.

They manipulate our trust. Then they orchestrate our fear.

It’s politics that create the dead. Politicians don’t care if others die.

Power is the politician’s road to God. My truth is the politicians lie.

   Words of Wisdom

When one door closes and another door opens, you are probably in prison.

To me, “drink responsibly” means don’t spill it.

Age 60 might be the new 40, but 9:00 pm is the new midnight.

It’s the start of a brand new day, and I’m off like a herd of turtles.

The older I get, the earlier it gets late.

When I say, “The other day,” I could be referring to any time between yesterday and 15 years ago.

I remember being able to get up without making sound effects.

I had my patience tested. I’m negative.

Remember, if you lose a sock in the dryer, it comes back…

Screaming Voices

It’s in the darkness of the shadows where I wish to hide.
Now all my battles have been fought, and all my thoughts have died.
My mind is at the doorway that will take me beyond,
The graves where silent voices are screaming to respond.

The pain that did grieve me now walks closer to hand.
Only my agonising madness is left untroubled to stand.
Escape is but honest fiction, there’s nowhere to abscond.
Except to a silent grave with no means to respond.

The world is so full of suffering for which I have no cure,
The path I once thought clear is nothing but obscure.
I cannot believe in magic, but I need a magic wand,
To give voices to the souls that are praying to respond.

Where once my eyes saw beauty now only ugliness stands.
There was always time aplenty, but feel how it rips through my hands.
My memory flutters like the wings of a dragonfly hovering over a millpond,
And I’m conscious of losing the voices that are asking me to
respond.

As the end to my path beckons, I wonder if it could be just one step or more?
I sense the emptiness of life with nothing there to explore,
Except my dreams have left me with one thing to be desired,
You find a silent place in the shadows for when my life has
expired.

THIS IS WHY WE LOVE CHILDREN

1) NUDITY

I was driving with my three young children one warm summer evening when a woman in the convertible ahead of us stood up and waved. She was stark naked! As I was reeling from the shock, I heard my 5-year-old shout from the back seat, ‘Mom, that lady isn’t wearing a seat belt!’

2) KETCHUP

A woman was trying hard to get the ketchup out of the jar. During her struggle, the phone rang so she asked her 4-year-old daughter to answer the phone. ‘Mommy can’t come to the phone to talk to you right now. She’s hitting the bottle.’

3) MORE NUDITY

A little…
